Liberation Film Series presents Against The Wind: History of Blacks in the Law & Chokwe Lumumba Tribute
Saturday, January 10 at 2 pm

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History presents a special installment of the Liberation Film Series (LFS) honoring the late Mayor Chokwe Lumumba, Esq. with a free screening of Against the Wind – History of Blacks in the Law, followed by a community conversation and Q&A on "Resisting Racial and Class Oppression in the US Injustice System” with Alice Jennings, Carl R. Edwards, the Honorable Adam Shakoor, Elliott Hall, Gerald Evelyn, and Jeffrey L. Edison. Against the Wind – History of Blacks in the Law, produced by Ted Talbert and narrated by former WDIV news anchor Emery King, looks at some of the trials that made history and some of the lawyers that fought the battles and stood strong against the wind. Also screened will be Tribute to A Warrior, produced by Harry A. Davis and Frederick Smith, which surveys Chokwe Lumumba’s exemplary and significant life. Free.
